DRAMATURGY FOR BALLET PRODUCTIONS IN MUNICH

From 2020 to 2024, I worked at the Bayerische Staatsoper as a dramaturge for the Bayerisches Staatsballett. During this time, I was in charge of all new productions and the works in the repertoire and was responsible for the education programme. The Bayerisches Staatsballett is an independent department of the Bavarian State Opera and has one of the most diverse repertoires in the world. It employs around 70 dancers and is characterised by its artistic excellence. In addition to maintaining its rich repertoire, which includes works by Ray Barra, John Cranko, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, John Neumeier, Hans van Manen and Peter Wright, in recent years it has presented a whole series of choreographers whose works had not previously been seen in Munich: These include David Dawson, Sharon Eyal, Marco Goecke, Andrey Kaydanovskiy, Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, Wayne McGregor, Liam Scarlett, Christian Spuck and Christopher Wheeldon. Following Ivan Liška's tenure as director, Igor Zelensky took over the company's management in August 2016 and led it until April 2022. Laurent Hilaire has been the director of the Bayerisches Staatsballett since May 2022.
